Blackman Music Hall
With more than 30 practice rooms, soundproof classrooms, an electronic piano lab, and a music technology lab, Blackman Music Hall serves as the central location for the Petrie School of Music.
Daniel Recital Hall
Cited in Chamber Music America as an exemplary performance facility, this 340-seat hall is ideal for chamber music concerts, recitals, seminars, and lectures. The hall houses a 27-rank, electro-pneumatic pipe organ built by Schantz.
Music Technology Lab
The Electronic Music Lab houses individual stations for electronic composition, editing, CD recording, MIDI technology, multi-media equipment, music notation and ear training.
Music Library
The Gwathmey Wing of Mickel Library houses one of the largest music collections in the Southeast, with more than 55,000 holdings. The library also contains an audio-visual room as well as private listening and recording facilities.
Piano Lab
With Yamaha Clavinova electronic pianos, the piano lab gives non-keyboard majors the feel of an individual lesson in a classroom setting.
Twichell Auditorium
This beautiful 1,500-seat auditorium in the Zimmerli Performance Center houses a 52-rank, tracker-action pipe organ built by Casavant Frères and is nationally known for its outstanding acoustics.
Rainey Amphitheater
The Rainey Amphitheater, constructed of reclaimed historic brick, is an open-air venue with tiered lawn seating perfect for symphonies under the stars, pop concerts, or any imaginative use students can create.
Lawson Academy Recital Hall
The Lawson Academy Recital Hall is the primary performance venue for the Lawson Academy of the Arts, hosting more than 60 performances a year, ranging from studio recitals to masterclasses, lectures to art openings. The 125-seat hall is a cavernous brick space traditionally warmed by the many Lawson Academy families and friends who frequent our annual events. The Lawson Academy Recital Hall also serves as our major classroom and as a host to many Converse and community gatherings.
