Adena Shoemake McDaniel is adjunct instructor of percussion at the Petrie School of Music at Converse College. In addition to her responsibilities of teaching the percussion studio at the Petrie School, she teaches music at Drayton Mills Elementary School in Spartanburg School District 7.
As a performer, Mrs. McDaniel is co-principal percussionist with the Spartanburg Philharmonic and regularly performs with the Converse Wind Ensemble and the Converse Symphony Orchestra. She has performed in the “World’s Largest Marimba Orchestra” under the direction of Fredrick Fennell in West Point, NY and toured with the 1998 Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corp.
Mrs. McDaniel graduated from Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA with a Bachelor of Music in Education and a Master of Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. She is a member of National Association for Music Education and the Percussive Arts Society.
