Dr. Lazevnick Speaks at Art Carolinas Women’s Caucus Event
Assistant Professor of Art History Dr. Ashley Lazevnick was invited to present at The Women’s Caucus for Art Carolinas webinar series in January 2024.
The event, “How to Get Published in the Art World,” is the first in a series sponsored by The Women’s Caucus for Art Carolinas. The Women’s Caucus is a national membership organization for women in the visual arts in the United States.
Associate Professor of Art Dr. Mary E. Carlisle, a member of the Women’s Caucus for the Arts Carolina, helped facilitate the invitation for Dr. Lazevnick.
Dr. Abigail Upshaw, Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, joined Dr. Lazevnick for the webinar. They discussed what drew them to the art history field, their approaches to research and writing, and how to find an academic publisher. They also shared their experiences publishing articles in scholarly journals and finding a venue for a book manuscript.
Dr. Lazevnick recently published Fantasies of Precision, which re-examines a group of painters known as the Precisionists, best remembered for their stark portrayals of factories and cityscapes.
Converse University’s School of the Arts inspires, teaches, and trains artists by fostering communication, creativity, and scholarship while nurturing an appreciation for the visual and performing arts.
