Dr. Rich Keen was interviewed by the New York Times about the 2021 movie Cruella. He was quoted in the Times article, “The Surprising Evolution of Cruella de Vil” which explores how Cruella’s character has evolved over the years in various adaptations.
Keen discusses the psychology behind why audiences are drawn to Cruella. He said, “If society generally tells us we should not root for a bad guy, then in effect, it is like a choice is being restricted, increasing the likelihood that you will start to like that character more.”
