Converse Recognizes Faculty and Staff Members for Outstanding Service
Dr. Melissa Walker, Assistant Professor of History and Politics, was presented with the O’Herron Award for Faculty Excellence during Converse College’s annual Employee Recognition Luncheon on May 14. Established by the O’Herron Family Foundation, the award is given to a faculty member who demonstrates exceptional teaching effectiveness, creativity, mentoring and advising, involvement in student-related activities, and achievement in research and publication.
Mr. Lynn Stalnaker, Interim Dean of the Petrie School of Music, and Debra Young, Administrative Assistant to the Provost, were both presented with the Spirit of Converse Award. Given annually, recipients of this award are recognized for their commitment to Converse College, contributions to the Converse community, support of colleagues, team spirit, cooperation, enthusiasm, and loyalty.
Mr. Stalnaker and the entire maintenance staff were recognized with the Quality Service to Students Award.
Dr. James G. Harrison, Archivist; Joe Ann Lever, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; Dr. Martha Lovett, Dean of Graduate Studies and Special Programs; and Dr. George Speed, ITS consultant were honored for their many years of service to Converse. All will be retiring from the College at the end of the academic year.
