May Day Weekend: A Family and Friends Celebration
Join us for this fun-filled two-day experience where you will enjoy food, fellowship, and so much more! May Day Weekend is the perfect opportunity for family and friends to share in Converse’s rich traditions and experience life on campus with your students. Registration for May Day Weekend is required.
Registration
The $20 per person fee provides guests admission to all on-campus events listed on the schedule as well as a drink voucher for The Fretwell drop-in. Converse students, faculty, and staff do not need to register. Children ages five and under are free.

Recognizing student leaders for their accomplishments and officially swearing in Converse’s newly elected student leaders.

Experience an exceptional performance by the Converse Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble.

Freshman Pinning Ceremony | Twichell Auditorium | 9:30-10:00 am
A time-honored tradition to recognize the completion of a student’s first year at Converse.
Spirit of Converse Award Ceremony | Johnson Plaza | 10:00-10:30 am
The ceremony will recognize recipients for the: Cato Faculty Award, Dukes Family Staff Award, Dukes Family Faculty Award for Scholarly and Creative Achievement, Spirit of Converse Staff Award, and for the first time in Converse’s history — the Spirit of the Valkyrie Award and the Core Values Awards.
Junior Ring Ceremony | Twichell Auditorium | 11:00 am-Noon
The Converse ring is a symbol of pride and class unity. This tradition recognizes the completion of a student’s third year at Converse.

Experience the songs, instruments, and rhythms of West African traditions as Converse Dance students perform alongside professional company members of Libation West African Dance Company and Gye Nyame Dance Company.

This event spotlights Valkyries Athletics and all of our amazing student-athletes. Photos and the Red Carpet show kick off at 7 pm, followed by the award ceremony at 8 pm. Valkyries Choice Awards is a semi-formal event.
