She is an active member of the National Council of Teachers of English where she served as the Elementary Representative-at-Large on the Executive Board from 2007-2009. She has served on numerous advisory boards and committees for NCTE and currently serves as a reviewer for the NCTE Books Program. Her research interests include early childhood literacy development and digital literacy.

When not teaching, Dr. McCraw enjoys spending time with her family, reading, singing in her church choir, and playing bells in the bell choir.
