Assistant Vice President for Enrollment and Director of Admissions Matt Cash has been recognized with The Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers’ highest honor, the Charlie Hendricks Award. CACRAO is a professional organization dedicated to promoting postsecondary education through the professional development of its members, the sharing of ideas, and support of college registrars and admissions officers and their professional associations.

Named in 1995 to honor devoted member Charlie Hendricks, the CACRAO website explains that “this award recognizes individuals who go ‘beyond the call of duty’ for CACRAO,” sharing that honorees “give freely of their time to support the Association through volunteering, completing tasks no one else wants, and rarely receive the credit they deserve.”

“…being honored with the award that bears [Charlie Hendricks’] name is a humbling experience that I will never forget.”

Cash said he is honored by this recognition from his peers in North and South Carolina. ““I never had the opportunity to meet Charlie Hendricks, but having the opportunity to connect with so many individuals who did know him through the years, and then being honored with the award that bears his name is a humbling experience that I will never forget,” he shared.

Cash joined Converse University in August 2021 as Director of Admissions, though he began his career in admissions at the University of South Carolina Upstate in 2008 as a first-year student admissions counselor. From 2012 to 2021, he held several progressive roles as he advanced to Associate Director of Admissions at the University of South Carolina Beaufort.

Matt is involved in several professional activities related to higher education enrollment, and his CACRAO tenure includes 12 years on the executive committee and serving as the organization’s 50th president in 2021. He also serves on the National Beta Club’s Scholarship Review Committee and is active in the Southern Association of College Admissions Counseling. A Spartanburg native, he is heavily involved in the community. He has served on several non-profit boards including Hub City Hog Fest, Keep OneSpartanburg Beautiful, USC Upstate Foundation, USC Upstate Alumni Association, and Spartanburg Young Professionals.
