Matt joined Converse University in August 2021 as Director of Admissions. He began his career in admissions at the University of South Carolina Upstate in 2008 as a first-year student admissions counselor. From 2012 to 2021, he held several progressive roles as he advanced to Associate Director of Admissions at the University of South Carolina Beaufort.

Matt is also involved in professional associations related to higher education enrollment, including service as the 2021 President of the Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers. He is also active in the Southern Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers and the Southern Association of College Admissions Counseling.

A Spartanburg native, he is heavily involved in the community. He has served on several non-profit boards including the Hub City Hog Fest (a charity barbecue festival benefitting Mobile Meals of Spartanburg), USC Upstate Foundation, USC Upstate Alumni Association, and Spartanburg Young Professionals.

Cooking is another passion for Matt – smoking barbecue, baking, and candy-making are among his favorite ways to unwind. He is on track to finish last place in his fantasy NASCAR and two fantasy football leagues, a distinction he hopes to improve upon next year.
