Below is a glossary to help you understand the terminology and acronyms that will be used throughout the QEP process.
The action or process of officially recognizing a person, group, or organization as having a particular status or being qualified to perform a particular activity. Converse is accredited by SACSCOC, and is currently undergoing a process of reaffirming the accreditation.
A plan developed by stakeholders within a higher education institution that serves as a mechanism for the institution to continue to grow its commitment to enhancing quality and effectiveness in the areas of student learning and/or success. The QEP is one of the integral components of Converse’s reaffirmation process through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), our accrediting body.
A team of faculty and staff who conduct further institutional research and dig into the literature on the selected topic; develop goals, student learning outcomes, and action plans. They will also develop the assessment plan that includes measurement tools. The committee will submit its 75-page proposal to SACSCOC for review, which is due in January 2027. This is a working committee.
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, which serves as the accrediting body for Converse along with other degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states.

A strategic plan is a formal document that outlines an organization’s long-term goals, priorities, and the actions needed to achieve them. It serves as a roadmap for decision-making, resource allocation, and progress tracking over a set period—typically 3 to 5 years. Converse’s most recent Strategic Plan (2023-2026) includes four foundational priorities and three areas of focus:

A team of faculty, staff, administrators, students, Trustees and alums who evaluate institutional data and solicit input from a wide range of stakeholders with the goal of identifying the topic (or focus) of our next QEP.
