Devon Bowie

Devon Bowie (she/they) is the Valkyrie Central Coordinator at Converse University, a new position created to assist incoming and returning students as they navigate Admissions, Student Financial Services, and the Registrar. Born and raised in the small historic town of Abbeville, South Carolina, she received her Bachelor’s degree in English from the College of Charleston and Lander University. Devon has worn many hats throughout their career, holding jobs as a screen-printer, a barista, an editor, a bartender, a job recruiter, and a paralegal before finding their passion for higher education, first as a Housing Area Coordinator for Lander University and now as the Valkyrie Central Coordinator for Converse University.

When not at the Valkyrie Central desk in Dalton Lobby, Devon enjoys spending time with her partner and their clowder of black cats, traveling to renaissance festivals across the South, attempting to keep their multitude of plants alive, playing games with friends and family, and reading anything she can get her hands on. She is currently teaching herself to embroider and sew for costuming and for fun!

(Devon would also like to inform all that their name is pronounced Dev-in Boo-ee, like Jim Bowie and the Bowie knife, not David Bowie.)
