Spartanburg, S.C.— Converse College fell 5-4 to visiting Coker College in CVAC tennis action Sunday afternoon. Trailing 2-1 after the doubles matches, Converse and Coker split the singles matches, winning three matches each. Converse falls to 1-2 for the season and 0-2 in the CVAC.
The #1 pair of Tina Rohner and Rachel Wilkes defeated Coker’s Andrea Santos and Ashley Pace 8-4. Rachel Lemar and Jill Smith blanked the All-Stars’ duo of Ive Jardim and Lee Cantey in the #2 doubles match. The #3 doulbes match was won by Coker by forfeit.
Rohner, Rhett Smodic, and Cantey each won their singles matches at the #1, #4, and #5 spots for the All-Stars. However, Coker’s Lemar and Cassidy Spencer won the #2 and #3 singles matches. Coker also won the #6 singles match by forfeit to claim the 5-4 victory.
The All-Stars return to action Thursday as they take on Anderson University. The match is set for 3:00 pm.
