Converse Celebrates Black History Month

During the month of February, Converse College is joining with the rest of America in celebrating Black History Month. The following is a listing of scheduled on-campus events:

Wed.; Feb.5
5-6:15 p.m.: Evening dinner in Gee Dining Hall featuring a soul food menu ($6.50)
7 p.m.: Daniel Recital Hall “Echoes of the Past” presented by Maxine Maxwell, Sponsored by the Student Activities Committee (SAC).

Thurs., Feb. 6; 4 p.m., Bain Room
Our Road to Success: The Black Woman’s Journey. guest speaker will be Gloria Graves. Sponsored by the Association of African American Students (AAAS).

Fri., Feb. 7; 7 p.m.; Loafers
The movie “Amistad,” followed by a roundtable discussion with Dr. Melissa Walker
(“Remember the Titans” will be shown after the discussion). Sponsored by SAC.

Mon., Feb. 10
11:30a.m.-1:00 p.m., lunch in Gee Dining Hall featuring a Soul Food menu ($5.25)
8 p.m.; Sneakers; Blah-Busters Night, Join AAAS for bingo and scramble games!
