Converse College center Lindsey Parker (Spartanburg, SC) started the season off strong registering her first double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds, as 12 of those points and boards were delivered in the second half. Junior guard Melissa Ballard (Saluda, NC) gave an all-star effort with her 26 points, 16-of-17 from the free-throw line, during Friday night’s loss to St. Andrews Presbyterian College. The All-Stars fall to 0-1 for the season with a 102-68 loss to the Knights in-front of a packed crowd at the PAC.

The All-Stars trailed by 19 going into halftime, but head coach Beth Coil has this to say about her team’s total play. “I feel like we had some great individual performances tonight but as a team, we needed more consistency on defense and in order to win, we have got to have more of a team effort as a whole.”

From the field, Converse shot only 34.3% but put on an impressive display from the free-throw line sinking 20-of-26 baskets, unleasing a 76.9 free-throw percentage.

St. Andrews placed 7-of-their-12 players in double digits with Dameka Mundy (High Point, NC) pacing the Knights with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 2 steals.
