Award-Winning Writer to Visit Converse
As part of Women’s History Month, the Elizabeth Boatwright Coker Visiting Writers Series at Converse College will host a campus visit by award-winning fiction writer Pam Durban Tuesday, March 26. The reading events will begin with a Q and A session with Durban at 4 p.m. in the Writing Center. A public reading and reception will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Cleveland Hall Alumnae House.
Durban is the author of the novels So Far Back and The Laughing Place, and the story collection All Set About With Fever Trees. She has received the Whiting Writer’s Award and a NEA Fellowship. Her stories have appeared in New Short Stories from the South, and in The Best American Short Stories of the Century.
A native of South Carolina, she lives in North Carolina and teaches at UNC-Chapel Hill as the Doris Betts Distinguished Professor of Creative Writing.
