Converse Student, Alumni & Faculty Featured at SPIVA Center for the Arts
Professor Andrew Blanchard, Lynn Hanchon ‘27 (Nisbet Honors), Mable Ni ‘24, and Azlyn Persails ‘25 will have work exhibited at Spiva Center for the Arts in Joplin, MO. Spiva has been known as the heart of Joplin’s art community since 1947 and features artists from all around the world.

“Impressions and Exposures: A Hand Magazine Exhibition” will run at Spiva Center for the Arts from November 1 – December 31, 2025. This event is also celebrating the 50th issue and anniversary of The Hand Magazine. The Hand Magazine is published four times a year and is dedicated to being the world’s premier forum for “alternative” and historic photographic processes and all types of printmaking. The magazine showcases local, regional, national, and international talent, and it is a rare accomplishment to have multiple artists from the same organization published in it.
Hanchon, Ni, and Persails have had work published in The Hand Magazine, as well as Irma Whaley ‘26 and Madison McNair ‘25.

Converse’s Department of Art, Design & Letters recognizes the dynamic relationship between the visual arts and the literary arts. Utilizing “Creativity that Works” as a model for our programs, Converse provides options for internships, research, and travel-study to ensure the highest quality experiential learning.
Each student in studio art, interior design, art education or art therapy produces art work and a senior exhibition as part of their curriculum at Converse.
