Two Converse Students to Compete for National Acting Scholarship
Caroline Avery ’03 of Spartanburg, S.C., and Amanda Cartwright ’04 of Cowpens, S.C., have been nominated to compete for the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship during the 2003 regional Kennedy center American College Theatre Festival. Both students were nominated for their work in Theatre/Converse’s recent production of Noel Coward’s Present Laughter.
The Irene Ryan Scholarships provide recognition, honor, and financial assistance to outstanding student performers wishing to pursue further education. The Irene Ryan Foundation offers 19 awards and two fellowships annually. Sixteen of the awards consist of a $500 scholarship for the representatives from the eight KCACTF regions. There are two scholarships of $2,500 each for the winners at the National Festival in Washington, D.C.
