Converse Senior Accepted by NYU
Tiffany Thornton ’02 has been accepted into the prestigious musical theatre program at New York University (NYU). The El Paso, Texas native will receive her Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance with a Minor in Theatre from Converse on May 25. At NYU, she will pursue her Master of Fine Arts.
According to Tiffany, her Converse experience increased her exposure to music theatre, opera, and straight theatre. “I have been very fortunate to work with a variety of directors/professors and to participate in a wide range of performance genres since being here at Converse,” she says. “In particular, working with Beverly Hay (Daniel Professor of Voice) and Steve Hunt (Assistant Professor of Theatre) made the largest impacts on me as a performer.”
Tiffany has a busy summer ahead of her before her NYU classes begin September 4th. “On June 6th, I travel to Chatham, New York to work as an actor at the MacHaydn Theatre, a summer stock theatre,” she says. “At the MacHaydn I’ll be playing the title role in ‘Naughty Marietta,’ Agnes Gooch in ‘Mame,’ Martha Jefferson in ‘1776,’ and some other fun parts.”
