The Class of 2005 Moves In
SPARTANBURG, S.C.– As classes for the Fall semester begin, members of an exceptional freshman class have taken their places at Converse College. The incoming Class of 2005 is comprised of students who made a difference in high school and are now ready to meet the challenges presented at the collegiate level.
The class is solid academically, boasting an average GPA of 3.6 and an average SAT score of 1107. Thirty-one or 18% of the freshmen will participate in the Nisbet Honors Program, a recognition for students who have distinguished themselves in the classroom.
Although most of the students are from the Southeastern United States, there is an international flavor to the class with some students hailing from Japan, Sri Lanka, India, Iceland, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
Other facts about the Class of 2005:
35% were Beta Club members in high school
6% were Student Council presidents or vice presidents
40% were heavily involved in service organizations
44% participated in sports
Their top academic interests include biology/pre-medicine, psychology, politics/pre-law, special education, and music.
