Marie LePage

Dr. LePage is a clinical psychologist with advanced training in health psychology. She received her BS in psychology (as well as a degree in theatre) from the University of Mary Washington, where she received departmental honors in psychology and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She went on to earn her MA and PhD from Kent State University. Dr. LePage completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Medical University of South Carolina and her post-doctoral fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems, with a specialization at both institutions in health psychology.

Dr. LePage teaches a variety of courses and has developed many new courses for the department, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Forensic Psychology, Health Psychology, Psychopharmacology, Abnormal Psychology, and a course on Body Image and Eating Disorders. Dr. LePage has won several teaching awards at Converse, including the Kathryne Amelia Brown award in 2015, the Joe Ann Lever award (in 2017, awarded by the senior class), and the O’Herron Award for Faculty Excellence in 2018.

Scholarly & Research Activity

Her research interests are in eating pathology, exercise, and obesity. Dr. LePage utilizes ecological momentary assessment to study behavior as it occurs in the moment. In addition to her research interests, Dr. LePage is licensed to practice as a clinical psychologist and has a small therapy practice in Spartanburg with a focus on treating eating pathology, weight issues, and anxiety.
