Dr. Harrison began her career as a kindergarten teacher at Lone Oak Elementary School in Spartanburg County District Six where she was voted Teacher of the Year in her first year of teaching. She also taught special education courses and was a graduate assistant at Clemson University while completing her doctorate. Dr. Harrison was a professor at North Greenville University before coming to Converse in 2000. She holds the BA in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and the MED in Special Education from Converse and the PHD in Curriculum and Instruction from Clemson University.

Dr. Harrison has served as president of the South Carolina Association of Teacher Educators and president of the South Carolina Council of Teachers of English. She currently teaches courses in research, contemporary education issues, classroom management, and elementary mathematics education.

Dr. Harrison lives in Spartanburg with her two children.
