Jean E. Dunbar

Professor of Mathematics Emeritus

Dr. Dunbar retired in May 2015.

A native of Spartanburg, Dr. Dunbar has been teaching at Converse since 1986. She teaches introductory level math courses, as well as courses designed for math majors.

Dr. Dunbar’s research interests include longest path problems in graph theory, a branch of discrete mathematics. An author of more than 40 publications in mathematics journals, she was also a co-author of a chapter in the book Domination in Graphs: Advanced Topics. She served twice as a visiting professor at Institut Universitaire de Technologie in Fontainebleau, France. She has presented math research at conferences in Slovakia, South Africa and Scotland, as well as working with local graph theorists in South Carolina and Tennessee. In 2006 she received the Scholarly and Creative Achievement Award at Converse.

Dr. Dunbar is a member of the Mathematics Association of America and a fellow of The Institute of Combinatorics and its Applications.
