Magnifying Murder’s Collateral Damage (Nisbet Speaker Series)

April 23 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Free
Rock the Tower

In 1977, Sherrerd Hartness ’81 was in college when her 14-year-old sister was murdered. Eventually she returned to Converse to finish her degree. She will discuss the process of recovering from the murder. She will also offer suggestions on how we can learn to listen to and speak more compassionately with those affected directly by violence.

She now has an interior design business and also speaks around the state on the experiences of the families of victims of violent crime. She has spoken numerous times at USC-Columbia, for law enforcement organizations, for religious organizations, and for discussion groups.
