Livestream Converse Chorale Fall Concert

Against considerable odds, Converse Chorale, Converse College’s premiere women’s chorus, will be live-streaming its Fall concert from Twichell Auditorium on Thursday, November 5, at 7:30 pm.

Converse Chorale presents Ecstasy and Agony,” a theme that pretty much chose itself “when the college is in the middle of a worldwide pandemic,” says Professor of Music and Chorale director, Dr. Keith Jones. The Ecstasy and Agony texts contrast the joy of singing, the power of resilience and resolve, and the fearlessness of youth. Paired with the sobering words of The New Colossus, the heartfelt loss expressed in an Appalachian folk song, and the penitential words of Psalm 130: “Out of the depths I cry to the, O Lord,” this program, fittingly, expresses wide-ranging emotions and musical styles.
