Shannon DeAnne Scruggs, an Upstate South Carolina local, is an Administration Assistant in the Facilities Department at Converse University. Having over twenty- five years in public utilities, she earned the title of Senior Utility Biller and qualified for assignment to several special projects including a ten- month system change over while employed at LCF Water District. Other roles while working in utilities ranged from customer service, new service and operations assistance. Prior to water works involvement, she worked in purchasing and was a buyer of poly film, office and maintenance supplies for a bag converter plant in Taylors, South Carolina for a period of three years.

Shannon completed her purchasing certification in 1992 and later studied mental health and substance abuse counseling at Greenville Technical College, earning two certifications in 2005: Mental Health Aide and Substance Abuse Training Certification. She held several part- time jobs in social work including Spartanburg Detoxification Center, The Adult Learning Center, Youth Advocacy Programs, and The Hope Center. Shannon was a volunteer with PSILoveyou Ministries for six years, serving foster children and their foster parents in Spartanburg County.

When not working or volunteering, Shannon enjoys flower gardening, water sports, traveling and spending time with her two children. Her son works in Engineering for an industrial contractor and her daughter is a dental hygienist.
