Sara Torres
Dr. Sara Torres is an assistant professor of English at Converse University. Before coming to Converse, she completed postdocs at the University of Virginia and the Medieval Academy of America and lectured at UCLA, where she received her doctorate in English in 2014.
At Converse, Dr. Torres teaches a range of courses on medieval literature, the history of the English language, and writing.
Scholarly & Research Activity
Her research focuses on the international contexts of early English writing, including Anglo-Iberian literary relations and the dialectics of peace during the Hundred Years War. Her interests include manuscript studies; gender, consent, and empathy; and ecocritical approaches to medieval literature.
Dr. Torres’s work has been supported by the Ford Foundation, the Medieval Academy of America, the Luso-American Foundation, the Program for Cultural Cooperation Between Spain’s Ministry of Culture & United States, and the UCLA Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies.
