Michael Miller
Michael Miller has taught guitar for more than 40 years to students 5 years and up. His students have been accepted into various music programs across the country, won prizes in US guitar competitions and have gone on to have successful careers in music. Michael holds an M.M. and B.M. in Guitar Performance from the University of Georgia with additional studies with Christopher Berg, University of South Carolina. He performed in master classes with Christopher Parkening, Jose Tomas, and John Marlow.
For 25 years, Michael performed with David Rowe as part of the Miller-Rowe Consort, an innovative duo consisting of classical guitar and hammered dulcimer. The Miller-Rowe Consort performed throughout the Southeast and was highly praised for its unique sound and creative arrangements.
Starting in 1984, Michael taught guitar, music theory, and music history at colleges in Georgia and South Carolina, including 18 years at Presbyterian College. Since 2005, Michael has directed the Childbloom Guitar Program of Spartanburg, SC at the Lawson Academy of the Arts at Converse College. He was awarded the Childbloom Company’s Director of the Year Award in 2006, 2008, and 2010.
