After receiving her BA in Music from Converse, Andrea Weatherman Kikkert began her career in higher education in Winston-Salem, NC. There, she worked at Wake Forest University and UNC School of the Arts while completing a certificate in injury preventive keyboard technique at Salem College. During this time, she discovered a love of German language and literature via Lieder and soon found herself pursuing an MA in German in Salzburg through Bowling Green State University’s Austria Year Abroad program.

After teaching on a Fulbright grant in Germany, Andrea began her PhD at Vanderbilt University. Upon completing her doctorate, Andrea supervised TEI (XML) transcriptions for the print/digital critical edition of Hannah Arendt’s complete works, published by Wallstein Verlag. Prior to her position as Director of Alumni Relations at Converse, Andrea taught German on the faculty of Hampden-Sydney College.

Andrea is delighted to return to Converse and strengthen both the University and its alumni community through social gatherings, professional development opportunities, and educating alumni about their alma mater’s continued and evolving mission to equip students. In her free time Andrea enjoys reading, eating, hiking, and relaxing with friends and family.
