A’Lyric Miles (She/Her) is an Assistant Professor of Marriage and Family Therapy. Professor Miles is the current Clinic Director within the Marriage and Family Department (since August 2023) at the UCG Campus. She primarily teaches at the University Center of Greenville campus and has been part of the Converse University MMFT Department since August 2023. Professor Miles is currently a doctoral candidate in the Couple, Marriage and Family Program at Texas Tech University. Professor Miles is an AAMFT Approved Supervisor Candidate through the Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

Scholarly & Research Activity

Professor Miles’ dissertation and research interest focuses on the African American communities’ perceptions and/or mistrust of the mental health field and how clinicians are adequately understanding bias, increasing cultural framework, modifying therapy styles, etc to alleviate or encourage those perspectives to help in repairing and rebuilding mistrust within the relationship between the mental health field and the African American Community.

Teaching Experience

Professor Miles teaches Cultural Competence & Family Therapy, DSM-5 in Marriage & Family Therapy, and Advanced Models I. She is a clinical supervisor during the Fall, January, Spring and Summer terms.
