Aaron Yackley holds degrees in music education from Florida State University, the University of Georgia, and The Ohio State University. While at Ohio State, Dr. Yackley taught and assisted with courses in classroom string methods, rehearsal technique, school orchestra repertoire, and string pedagogy. He conducted the non-music major community orchestra on campus, and also had the privilege of working with the Columbus Youth Symphony Orchestra Chamber Strings, the Ohio State Morning Strings Student Workshop, and teaching bass to string teachers at the Ohio State String Teacher Workshop.

Dr. Yackley is also the orchestra director at Dawkins Middle School in Spartanburg District Six, and maintains a private double bass studio. His double bass instructors have included James Barket, Melanie Punter, Paul Robinson, and Barry Green, the author of The Inner Game of Music.

Dr. Yackley’s professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Education, the American String Teachers Association, the International Society of Bassists, and the South Carolina Music Educators Association. He has presented sessions at the national and local level on topics such as Bass for the Non-Bassist, Aural Skills for Low Strings, and Solfege in the String Classroom.
