Sarah Murphy

Coordinator of the Milliken Gallery and Adjunct Instructor of Art

Sarah Murphy started making art at a young age and never stopped. With her studio art training and love for new mediums, she combines the digital and traditional in her work. Her inspiration comes from classic art history and modern pop culture. Utilizing the past and the present both in muse and medium, she combines bold shapes and vibrant colors with old narratives to share a slice of her vivid imagination with the world.

Murphy’s art has been shown in galleries, highlighted in online exhibitions, and featured as primary promotion for a multi-day event in the SC Upstate, The Local Game Store Crawl, spearheaded by Boardwalk: Purveyors of Fine Games. Murphy currently works as an adjunct instructor and is coordinator for the Milliken Gallery at Converse University.

Murphy holds a BFA in Studio Art with minors in Art History and Arts Administration from Converse University and a MFA in Illustration from the University of Hartford. She has directly studied under prominent illustrators such as Carol Schwartz, Alice Carter and C.F. Payne.
