Margaret E. Park

Dr. Park received her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Hood College, her Master of Education in Deaf Education from McDaniel College, her Educational Specialist in Educational Administration from Converse College, and her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Northcentral University.

Dr. Park brings a wealth of experience in the field of deaf education from her years as a teacher and administrator in schools and programs serving deaf children. During her career, she taught preschool through high school students in mainstream and residential school settings. She served in numerous administrative roles including principal, director of curriculum and instruction, and president of the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind for five years where she was responsible for the educational programs on the main campus in Spartanburg and for numerous statewide education and accessibility services.

Dr. Park has also served in many roles focused on the education of young children. Experiences include teaching in private and public preschools, and focusing on accessibility for young children with special needs.

When not teaching, Dr. Park enjoys spending time with her family and gardening.

Scholarly & Research Activity

Dr. Park is a member of the Convention of American Instructors of the Deaf, the Council for Exceptional Children, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), and the South Carolina Association of the Deaf.  She is also active on numerous committees and is a member of the Pepnet 2 South Carolina state team to address critical issues facing deaf children transitioning from secondary education to postsecondary options.

Her research interests include linking the academic success of deaf children with their social and emotional needs.
