Cross Country Coach/Sports Information Director

This position reports to the Athletic Director. This is a twelve-month position.

| Responsibilities: |
CROSS COUNTRY COACH: Administer and direct all aspects of the program. Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all applicable NCAA, conference, department and college regulations that relate to recruiting, daily program management, operation of the individual sport and general success of the program. Recruit quality student-athletes by means of personal contact and correspondence, evaluating ability in person or by videotape, and on-campus visits. Prepare and carry out off-season conditioning, practice and other related activities. Schedule and conduct prospective player tryouts (walk-ons or potential recruits). Administer and coordinate all equipment and uniform purchases within budgetary limitations. Promote, as well as monitor, the physical, emotional and social welfare of student-athletes. Develop and implement team fundraisers. Plan and implement procedure for home and away contests (food, travel, cash requests).
SPORTS INFORMATION DIRECTOR: Serve as the primary media contact for all sports related issues. Maintain team and individual records and statistics. Write and present sports updates for campus publications and outside media. Development and implement promotional incentives for game attendance (raffles, give aways, half-time fan contests, etc.) if appropriate. Oversee production of all sports related published materials (schedules, advertising, photos, etc.). Maintain a file of accurate box score and updated team statistics. Attend all home games and afterwards write articles for the website. Write articles for all away contests for the website. Write and post articles about athletes in other areas of the college when appropriate. Collect articles for the three newsletters and send to the Office of Communications to be published. Update all Bios for athletes on the website. Work with college webmaster to update and improve the web site. Work with SAAC to plan the athletic banquet. Update all changes and corrections to schedules, rosters, etc. Maintain archives of all team and individual records and statistics. Development and implement a plan for pictures to be taken during each season and during preseason.

Minimum 21 years of age, High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, valid driver’s license, must qualify for firearms and legals, must pass SLED certificates and a background check. Honesty and integrity, the ability to remain calm and to function efficiently in the worst imaginable circumstances, leadership, good oral and written communication skills, thorough knowledge of the criminal law and traffic regulations which he/she is charged with enforcing; basic qualifications in first-aid and CPR techniques, ability to drive motor vehicles safely in both normal and emergency situations, skill in the use of equipment including firearms, two-way radios, cameras, etc.

| Responsibilities: |
Patrol the campus, either on foot or in a patrol vehicle, with a two-way radio. Must have a thorough working knowledge of the campus including its topography, buildings, streets, persons, organizations, and various campus groups and their relationships. Constant patrol of his/her assigned area to observe persons and property therein for the purpose of preventing criminal acts. The deterrent factor is one of his/her most important functions. Lock/unlock and check buildings for security, particularly at night. Keep a constant watch for fire, fire hazards, safety hazards, and other dangerous situations. Observe suspicious persons or circumstances with the aim of crime prevention and apprehension of criminals. Enforce campus traffic and parking regulations. Make arrests in accordance with departmental arrest policy. Investigate violations of college policy within his/her patrol area/the patrol officer is the primary investigator for all minor complaints/major cases are referred to the Spartanburg Police Department. Investigate all complaints within jurisdiction, both traffic and non-traffic. Give first aid to injured or sick persons; provides or arranges for necessary transportation. Direct traffic when necessary to relieve congestion or provide special controls. Escort females upon request after dark. Perform special service functions as required. Writes a thorough report on every complaint, accident, or other significant incident.

Converse College, a women’s liberal arts college with a nationally accredited Department of Art and Design, a nationally accredited music school, and coeducational graduate programs in art, music, education and the liberal arts, seeks an Assistant Professor (tenure track) of Interior Design.
The Interior Design Program is located within the Department of Art and Design with four well-equipped studios and a faculty/student ratio of 1/10. The mission of the Program is to produce liberally educated designers who are well prepared to embrace their chosen profession and contribute to their communities.
This position offers the opportunity to participate in originating new course content and teaching methods in a student-centered learning environment. Other undergraduate majors offered are Studio Art, Art History, Art Therapy, and Art Education and all majors require and share foundation courses. Required credentials are a Masters Degree in Interior Design or a closely related field from an accredited institution (either the undergraduate or graduate degree must be in Interior Design), NICDQ certification, college level teaching experience, and practice experience. Professional knowledge must include design theory, programming, residential and commercial design, codes, accessibility, and sustainability. Skills required are sketching, drafting, presentation graphics, and the use of AutoCAD and rendering or presentation software. The successful candidate will continue to improve their design and technical knowledge, maintain a membership in a professional organization and work well within a creative and collaborative environment dedicated to a culture of learning and social responsibility. Preference will be given to candidates able to teach AutoCAD and rendering software.
