Terrell Tracy

Dr. Tracy retired in May 2017.

Dr. Terrell Tracy has 32 years of experience in education as a classroom teacher, district ELA coordinator, Education Associate at the SC State Department of Education, assistant professor at Converse, and literacy consultant. At Converse, Dr. Tracy directed the English MAT and Social Studies MAT programs. She initiated the EdS in Literacy program and serves as its director. On the state level, Dr. Tracy served as a Regional Literacy Coach and instructor for the South Carolina Reading Initiative (SCRI) and developed and led the statewide Literacy in the Content Areas (LCAT) initiative. She facilitated the ELA Common Core Standards development and provided professional development on the ELA Common Core for District Implementation Teams across the state.

A former president of the South Carolina Council of Teachers of English, Dr. Tracy has served as its treasurer for many years and is currently launching a Book for Kids drive. She has presented on a variety of literacy topics at local, state, and national conferences and consults with administrators, instructional coaches, and classroom teachers in developing and implementing comprehensive school and district literacy plans. She facilitates a year-long professional development initiative to prepare site-based literacy leaders.
