Dr. Shannon Martin

Associate Professor of Psychology

Dr. Shannon Martin passed away in July 2023.

Dr. Martin was a clinical psychologist who joined the psychology faculty in Fall 2016. Her primary clinical and research interests were within the domain of adult psychopathology. More specifically, her research focused on the impact of emotional expectation and current mood states on experience, behaviors, and emotional regulation in conditions such as social anxiety and schizotypy. She has conducted studies utilizing diverse research methods ranging from experimental laboratory studies to more ecologically valid experience sampling to capture in-the-moment emotional responses.

Dr. Martin received her B.A. from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul Minnesota where she double majored in Business Management and Psychology. She then took a gap year to travel and work in Melbourne, Australia. Following, she earned her M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Minnesota State University and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Central Michigan University. Dr. Martin completed her predoctoral internship at the Battle Creek VA. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, cooking, crafting, and playing cards.
