Rachael is a Licensed Independent Social Worker in the State of South Carolina and has been practicing since 2015. She completed her undergraduate degree in Social Work at the University of Akron in Ohio and her master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Michigan. Rachael began her career in her home state of Ohio as an Outreach Therapist in a non-profit community mental health organization and then went on to provide counseling services in the private practice setting. In 2017, Rachael became a certified yoga teacher and has incorporated the practice of yoga into her work as a therapist, developing and running therapeutic yoga groups focused on utilizing breath and movement to create a space of healing for women impacted by trauma.
Rachael enjoys working with a wide variety of people and especially has a heart and passion for working with young people and young adult women. Rachael has experience working with anxiety and mood disorders, acute and complex trauma, self-harm, relational issues, healthy communication and boundary setting, self-identity and self-esteem issues, and grief and loss. Rachael utilizes an integrative and strengths-based approach to counseling, specific to the needs of the individual, which can include; cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness and grounding techniques, and other somatic approaches.
In her free time, Rachael enjoys writing and playing songs, cooking, yoga, cuddling with her cat, Addie, and hiking with her husband and dog, Nadia.
