The Vienna Boys Choir is utterly unique as a living embodiment of the greatest traditions of Western culture and a vivacious, forever-young performing ensemble. The ensemble traces its roots to 1498, when Holy Roman Emperor Maximillian I moved his court to Vienna; in the centuries since, Mozart, Haydn, and Bruckner composed for the group, and Franz Schubert was among its countless illustrious alumni. Today, the Vienna Boys Choir consists of 100 boys between the ages of ten and fourteen, from dozens of nations, divided into four touring groups. They receive a full academic curriculum – in between the international tours that have taken them to over 100 countries.
