THIS EVENT HAS BEEN SUSPENDED. A new date will be determined in early April.
A Little Shop of Horrors by Alan Menken and book by Howard Ashman (April 23, 24, 25 @ 7:30pm, and April 25, 26 @ 2:30pm), directed by Dr. Boone Hopkins
This horror comedy/rock musical follows a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh. Based on the low-budget 1960s black comedy film of the same name, the music, composed by Menken in the style of doo-wop and early Motown, includes several well-known tunes, including the title song, “Skid Row (Downtown)”, “Somewhere That’s Green”, and “Suddenly, Seymour” among other well-loved numbers.
The Theatre Converse production will ask: What monsters are you feeding? And how do dreams grow into nightmares when ambition becomes greed. The department will develop original puppets and plant choreography for Audrey II, under the artistic leadership of Prof. Meg Hanna Tominaga and Prof. Lauren Hopkins. “Everybody better beware!”
