Emalie Savoy

Lauded as “remarkable” by The New York Times, Soprano Emalie Savoy’s lyric vocal beauty and dramatic passion continue to touch audiences worldwide. Awarded First Prize in Voice at the prestigious 2015 ARD International Music Competition in Munich, Germany, Ms. Savoy is sought-after on the operatic as well as concert and recital stage. Notable appearances include her Metropolitan Opera debut as Kristina in Leoš Janáček’s The Makropulos Case, conducted by Jiří Bělohálovek; performances alongside cellist Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble; her Carnegie Hall debut as soprano soloist in Mendelssohn’s Paulus with the Oratorio Society of New York, conducted by Kent Tritle; performances with the New York Philharmonic as Queen Isabella in de Falla’s Atlántida; guest soloist with the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra and the Musical Olympus Foundation in St. Petersburg, Russia at the Grand Hall of the D.D.Shostakovich St. Petersburg Academic Philharmonia, and her performance of Contessa Ceprano in Verdi’s Rigoletto with The Metropolitan Opera HD Live series, released on DVD by Deutsche Grammophon. Additional credits include Erste Dame in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte with the Grand Théâtre de Genève; soprano soloist in Handel’s Messiah, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem with OSNY in Carnegie Hall; Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni with Oper Wuppertal; Ariadne in Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos with The Tanglewood Music Center, conducted by Christoph von Dohnányi; Anna in Schubertstrasse 200 at the Salzburger Landestheater with Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, conducted by Adrian Kelly; Miss Jessel in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw with Opera Columbus; Céphise in Rameau’s Pygmalion with On Site Opera; Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, conducted by Alan Gilbert, Armide in Gluck’s Armide, conducted by Jane Glover, with MET + Juilliard as well as Contessa in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro and Susan B. in Thomson’s The Mother of Us All with Juilliard Opera and Samuel Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915 with The Juilliard Orchestra.

In addition to her solo career, Ms. Savoy maintains a vibrant teaching and coaching studio, and is guest voice and music instructor at Our Lady of Loreto Convent in Charlotte, North Carolina. A native of Schenectady, New York, she completed The Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, and holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Vocal Performance from The Juilliard School.
