The Milliken Art Gallery celebrates the strength of Converse College Art & Design alumnae with the presentation of a new exhibition opening on January 10, 2019. NEXT: Art & Design Alumnae Exhibition will showcase the work of five alumnae who graduated from the Art & Design Department at Converse College. Each artist has grown in artistic practice since graduating, taking on new media and shifting subject matter that progressed from their original course of study. In addition to their campus connection, the work of these artists share overarching themes of memory, nostalgia, storytelling and the idea of their work being more than what meets the eye at first glance.
The featured alumnae artists are: Carly Drew, Mandy Ferguson, Linda Gritta, Linda Hudgins and Caren Stansell. The artworks will include drawings, paintings, mixed media, printmaking, ceramics, and sculpture.
NEXT: Art & Design Alumnae Exhibition will run from January 10-31, 2019. An opening reception will be held in the gallery on January 10 beginning at 6:30pm.
The exhibition is located in the Milliken Art Gallery and is free of charge. Gallery hours are Sunday – Thursday 2:00-5:00pm. The Gallery is closed during school holidays.
