Shirley Sealy

Chair of Education, Assistant Professor of Education, Director of Administration and Supervision

Dr. Shirley Sealy is an Assistant Professor of Education. She also serves the Education Department as Chair of Education and the Director of Administrator Certification Programs. She holds undergraduate degrees in Secondary Education and advanced degrees in Administration and Supervision and in Curriculum and Instruction.

Prior to joining Converse, Dr. Sealy enjoyed a 34-year career in public education. During her tenure, she served as high school and middle school science teacher, volleyball coach, and elementary and middle school administrator. Additionally, Dr. Sealy most recently held the position of Chief Academic Officer for Teaching and Learning in the Cherokee County School District.

Dr. Sealy and her husband Sonny share five children, two sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, and five precious grandchildren. Spending time with their large and boisterous family is definitely a cherished pastime! Dr. Sealy also enjoys reading psychological thrillers, cooking her family’s favorite meals, boating, and watching all sports, especially soccer.

Scholarly & Research Activity

In support of her professional interest in teaching and learning, Dr. Sealy’s dissertation research explored freshman academy experiences that impacted students’ academic intrinsic motivation.
