April is a graduate of the Fine Arts Center of the Performing Arts where she studied Ballet and Modern dance. She was a member of the Southeast Theatre Dance Company and the Laughing Stock Improv Troupe. April has performed in over 30 plays, as an actress and a dancer, and has also worked as a production assistant for Greenville Little Theatre where she acquired costume design and construction skills.

She has worked for many dance schools in the South Carolina Upstate area, teaching various styles of dance including Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, and Ballet. April taught Musical Theatre and Dance classes for the South Carolina Children’s Theatre, where she also gained a passion for teaching at the preschool level. April is the previous owner and director of the GJ Crew Dance School where she led an award-winning competitive dance company, winning many awards for her choreography at nationally recognized competitions.

She choreographs regularly for several local theatres including Spartanburg Little Theatre, where she has been working for over ten years. Her passion for theatrical choreography is what led her to Converse College, where she has found a home teaching dance. April‘s choreography for Converse College was most recently seen in CHARTING THE FUTURE, November 2018.
