MFA Department Celebrates Multiple Accomplishments

Converse’s low-residency MFA in Creative Writing program had numerous achievements this year:
Converse’s MFA faculty and alumni presented at panels at this year’s Association of Writers & Writing Programs Conference in Portland, Oregon. Graduates Lisa Hase-Jackson and Cinelle Barnes, and faculty Leslie Pietrzyk and Richard Tillinghast presented readings of their work or presented papers at the conference.
MFA Fiction graduate Rhonda Browning White won the Press 53 Short Fiction Prize for her book manuscript. Her story collection, The Lightness of Water and Other Stories will be published this October.
MFA Poetry graduate David Colodney had his chapbook collection, Mimeograph, accepted for publication with Finishing Line Press.
MFA Nonfiction graduate Cinelle Barnes has two new forthcoming books. One, Malaya: Essays on Freedom will be published with Little A this October, and the second, an anthology, Our Sense of Place: New Writers of Color in the American South is forthcoming from Hub City Press in 2020.
MFA fiction graduate Katie Sherman was selected as a finalist for the New Letters fiction prize.
