SUMMARY:EXHIBITION: Drawings from Wobbly Days
DESCRIPTION:Kreh Mellick’s drawings represent an ever-evolving need to relate fictions on paper. Her latest work will be featured in Drawings from Wobbly Days in the Milliken Art Gallery. In her current iteration\, Mellick draws inspiration from folk art. Employing static motifs and repeat imagery\, she strives to create a vocabulary using icons based in tradition. She pursues themes of woman\, nature\, domesticity\, and power of work and home. \nMellick is an artist living and working in Asheville\, NC. \nShe received her BFA in Illustration from Maine College of Art and was a CORE fellow at Penland School of Crafts. Her works on paper relate to narratives inspired by folklore\, nostalgia\, and time passed. Mellick works primarily with gouache on paper\, often cut and layered in reassembled environments. She combines complex\, decorative patterns with airy\, minimalist\, ethereal landscapes. \nDrawings from Wobbly Days will run from September 30-October 28\, 2021. Mellick will present a Gallery Talk on September 30th at 6:00pm in the gallery followed by a reception from 6:30-8:00pm. \nThe exhibition is located in the Milliken Art Gallery and is free of charge. Gallery hours are Sunday 2:00-5:00pm\, Monday – Friday 9:00am-5:00pm. The Gallery is closed during school holidays. \nArtist’s website
