College Women’s Health Forum
In an effort to address health issues affecting women, Converse College will host the Spartanburg Area College Women’s Health Forum. The forum, which is open to the public, will be held on Feb. 24th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the college’s Twichell Auditorium. Although the forum is specifically designed for college students, women of all ages are invited to attend. There is no charge for admission.
Dr. Steven Corso, hematologist and oncologist for the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System (SRHS), will speak about breast cancer; Dr. Larry Puls, gynecologic oncologist for SRHS, will address lifestyle tendencies that could lead to cervical cancer; and Dr. Jan Porter, a Spartanburg-area family practitioner, will speak of the rising risks of heart disease among women.
“It is essential that women become better educated in the ways that their lifestyle habits can affect their health,” said Lisa Lefebvre, director of health services at Converse. “This forum is designed to give women the information they need so that they can take charge of their personal lives and guard against very real health dangers.”
The forum is sponsored by the Converse College Department of Health Services, the Converse College Institute for Leadership, and the college’s Triple Beta organization. For more information, contact Lisa Lefebvre at (864) 596-9116.
