Julia Peterkin Award Winner to Visit Converse
Becky Hagenston, the winner of the 2001 Julia Peterkin Award, will visit Converse College October 9 in the Cleveland Hall Alumnae House at 8:00 p.m. Author of “A Gram of Mars,” Hagenston is among the best of contemporary short fiction.
The Julia Peterkin Award was established at Converse in an effort to introduce students to strong writers from across the country. The national contest is named in honor of Converse graduate Julia Mood Peterkin, the only South Carolinian to have won the Pulitzer Prize in literature.
