Life at Converse is anchored in the classroom, with great professors, interesting courses, and challenging assignments. And our Center for Student Development & Success makes sure you do well in that arena. But the Converse experience will change your life in ways that reach beyond the classroom.
Our leadership & service programs turn your passion for taking charge and making a difference into an understanding of collaboration and fear of taking responsibility into confidence to face new challenges.
Equally as important—and sometimes just as transformative—are our campus traditions. You’ll celebrate with your new sisters during 1889 competitions, sign your name to uphold the century old honor system, and might even develop a quirky preference for red horns or pink tails.
Life in our residence halls is exactly what life should be—spirited, engaging, and fun. You’ll make life-long friends, find great support, and have a relaxing place to crash at the end of a busy day.
And speaking of busy, with so much activity on campus, your "free" time will be anything but. Our campus life calendar is packed with events and activities, some of which are sponsored by our many clubs and organizations. Choose from options as diverse as our competitive sports or our equally competitive Model Arab League. Attend a dance party, a classical music recital or rock concert, or participate in a faculty challenge fundraiser. And that doesn’t even include all of the things going on in and around Spartanburg, from Jazz on the Square to wilderness adventures with GOLS to Spring Fling. And with seven colleges and universities, this college town is home to some 13,000 college students.
We know that you have many questions as you prepare for your student to transition to Converse and hope that we can provide answers to ease the way.
