Bio

Matthew Farris enters his first year with the Converse Valkyries in 2017-18 serving as the Sports Information Director. He covers all 12 NCAA sponsored sports, an NCATA Acrobatics and Tumbling team and an IHSA Equestrian team.

Farris serves as the liaison between the Valkyries coaches and players and the media. He oversees home statistics, photography, press releases and website material pertaining to Converse Athletics. Farris maintains GoValkyries.com and all Converse Athletics social media sites.

Farris comes to Converse as the full-time Sports Information Director following a successful stint as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Mars Hill University. During his time with the Lions, Farris was responsible for numerous sports, including men’s soccer, volleyball, women’s basketball, track and field, cross country, golf, softball, and tennis.

Prior to joining Mars Hill, Farris worked at Limestone College while working towards his undergraduate degree. He worked with all 22 NCAA sports, primarily working as the statistician and public address announcer. He served as an official scorer during the 2014 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships.

The Blacksburg, S.C. native graduated from Limestone College in 2015, earning a bachelor's degree in Sports Management, while graduating with honors.

Matthew has three children, Mattison (7), Makenna (5), and Miccah (2). He currently resides in the Spartanburg area.
