Dr. Woodfin’s book Camp and Combat on the Sinai and Palestine Front: the Experience of the British Empire Soldier, 1916-18 explains what life was like for World War I soldiers in that part of the Middle East. That project took him all the way around the world, reading letters and diaries in archives from Scotland to New Zealand. As part of the research, he was a Fulbright Fellow for a year at the Australian Defence Force Academy in Canberra.

Currently, he is writing a biography of an Australian soldier and pilot.
