Adult Years

Harriet posed for this picture in 1902 while she was living with her parents in California.  She would soon leave for New York City where she would subtract ten years from her actual age.  This "age adjustment" remained undiscovered until after her untimely death in 1912.

This formal portrait of Harriet was taken in 1911 when she lived in New York City.  She had recently gained fame as America's first licensed woman pilot.
